Aishwarya Rai dragged into obscene content scandal

Former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has approached the Delhi High Court, seeking action against the circulation of obscene, morphed, and AI-generated content using her name and likeness.

According to Indian media reports, the Ponniyin Selvan star filed a plea demanding an injunction to prevent individuals and platforms from misusing her identity for explicit material.

Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Rai, argued that fake intimate photographs are being circulated online without her consent.

“These are not Aishwarya Rai’s images, nor has she authorised them. They are entirely AI-generated,” Sethi told the court. He further said her name and image were being exploited for financial and sexual gratification, calling it “deeply unfortunate.”

Aishwarya Rai has long been a frequent target of online impersonation, with morphed visuals, including explicit and pornographic content, widely circulated on social media.

The court has scheduled the matter for proceedings before the joint registrar on November 7 and a hearing on January 15, 2026. Reports suggest authorities may soon act against offenders, with a list of websites and platforms already submitted.

The misuse of celebrity identities through morphing and AI tools has become a growing problem in India.

In recent years, actors like Rashmika Mandanna, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and even Shah Rukh Khan have faced similar violations, as morphed visuals of them went viral online, sparking trolling and unwanted publicity.
