LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a comprehensive initiative to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles hindering business operations, directing government departments to streamline processes and support entrepreneurship across the province.
Tackling Bureaucratic Barriers
Addressing a high-level law and order meeting in Lahore, the Chief Minister acknowledged that launching businesses in Pakistan remains unnecessarily challenging due to administrative complexities that discourage entrepreneurs before operations even commence.
“Creating obstacles has become easier than facilitating business,” Maryam Nawaz observed, emphasizing that governmental failure occurs when citizens must pay bribes, seek recommendations, or face unwarranted difficulties for legitimate activities.
Two-Week E-Business Timeline Mandate
Following a detailed briefing on the Punjab Information Technology Board’s e-business program, the Chief Minister issued explicit directives for expedited processing. All government departments must now provide No Objection Certificates under a unified platform within a mandatory two-week timeframe.
Officials received instructions to conduct weekly reviews of pending e-business applications, ensuring prompt decision-making and accountability. Departments and officers demonstrating exceptional citizen facilitation will receive official recognition from the provincial government.
Citizen-Centric Governance Philosophy
Maryam Nawaz articulated her administration’s commitment to public service, stating that ensuring citizens receive their rightful entitlements provides the greatest satisfaction. She stressed that the state must visibly support people pursuing legitimate endeavors.
