Pakistan Army Chief Strengthens Defence Ties During Egypt Visit

Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, has concluded high-level meetings with Egyptian military and religious leaders during a strategic visit aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and addressing regional security challenges.

Strategic Military Engagement

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that discussions centered on matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and strengthening military collaboration between the two nations. The army chief engaged with Egyptian Minister of Defence and Defence Production General Abdul Maged Saqar and Chief of Staff of Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fateh.

Upon arrival at Egypt’s Ministry of Defence, Field Marshal Munir received a formal Guard of Honour. He paid respects at the Memorial of Unknown Soldier and visited the grave of late President Mohamed Anwar Al-Sadat, demonstrating Pakistan’s commitment to honoring Egypt’s historical sacrifices.

Reinforcing Brotherly Ties

Field Marshal Munir emphasized the deep-rooted relationship between both nations, stating that enhanced cooperation would benefit citizens of both countries while contributing significantly to regional peace and stability. The ISPR characterized Pakistan and Egypt as brotherly nations with shared interests and values.

Addressing Religious Extremism

In a significant meeting at Mashaikhat Al Azhar Al Sharif, the army chief consulted with Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El Tayab. Discussions focused on challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah, with Field Marshal Munir emphasizing the critical need to combat extremist ideologies and misinterpretations of Islamic teachings.

This comprehensive visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships across the Muslim world while actively promoting moderate religious discourse and regional stability through defence collaboration.
