Pakistan Vows Strong Defense Against External Threats

Pakistan’s military leadership has issued a stern warning that any external aggression targeting the nation will receive a firm and decisive response. Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt-Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry delivered this message during his address to university students and academics in Abbottabad on Friday.

The statement gains significance amid escalating regional tensions, particularly with Afghanistan. Islamabad has repeatedly expressed concerns over terrorist organizations operating from Afghan territory and launching attacks inside Pakistan. Pakistani authorities continue demanding Taliban leadership prevent militant groups from using Afghan soil as a launchpad, though Kabul denies harboring such elements.

Regional Security Challenges

The security landscape remains complex following historic tensions earlier this year. May 2024 witnessed unprecedented escalation with India—considered the most severe confrontation in decades—which concluded after four days of intense hostilities through US-mediated ceasefire negotiations.

Lt-Gen Chaudhry emphasized the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to homeland defense while highlighting successful counter-terrorism operations against Fitna al-Khawarij and other militant networks. His engagement with the academic community focused on clarifying the current security environment, Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, and ongoing military operations.

Academic Community Support

Hazara University Vice-Chancellor Dr Ikramullah Khan commended the armed forces’ dedication, affirming institutional solidarity with military efforts. He characterized the army’s resolve as emblematic of national patriotism while warning about terrorist elements attempting to mislead younger generations through propaganda.

Dr Ikramullah stressed the critical importance of disseminating accurate, verified information to counter disinformation campaigns targeting youth.

According to official statements, students and faculty members welcomed the opportunity for direct dialogue, noting the session effectively addressed misconceptions regarding military operations and national security challenges.

This warning echoes earlier statements from Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, who declared on October 21 that territorial integrity violations would provoke firm, decisive retaliation, underscoring Pakistan’s consistent defense posture.
