Rawalpindi Tightens Security After Raid on TLP Headquarters

by WebDesk

Security has been increased in Rawalpindi amid rising tensions following a police raid on the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) headquarters.

Violence erupted in Lahore on Wednesday night as officers attempted to arrest the TLP leader, Saad Rizvi. Supporters of TLP clashed with police, using stones and iron rods. Law enforcement responded with tear gas, particularly around Multan Road.

In response, the City Police Officer of Rawalpindi convened a meeting with senior police officials, including superintendents and division-level officers, to assess the law and order situation. Authorities emphasised that no one is permitted to disrupt public peace, block roads, or interfere with normal life. Violent protests will not be tolerated.

Additional steps were ordered: hostels and hotels around Murree Road were instructed to evacuate non-essential occupants. Exceptions were made for foreigners, patients, and students who are appearing for exams.

Officials warned that those causing disturbances, attacking property, or targeting law enforcement will face strict action.
